We are proud to welcome John Norum to the True Temperament family.
Yesterday evening we had the pleasure of delivering a very special guitar to John in the studio. The body and hardware came from John himself, while we paired them with one of our True Temperament replacement necks. The final assembly was carried out by Fredrik Kriström, resulting in an instrument that immediately felt right at home in John’s hands.
For those few who need an introduction, John Norum is one of the most influential guitarists to emerge from Scandinavia. Best known as the founding guitarist of the legendary Swedish hard rock band Europe, John helped shape the sound of a generation through albums such as The Final Countdown, while also building an impressive solo career spanning more than four decades. His playing combines technical precision, powerful blues influences and a deep understanding of tone, earning him a place among the most respected rock guitarists in the world.
The guitar was put to work immediately in the studio and played through Gary Moore’s legendary Marshall amplifier, now owned by John. The result was simply magical. John is not only a guitar virtuoso but also incredibly meticulous when it comes to sound and tone. His knowledge of the relationship between guitar, amplifier and everything in between is truly remarkable. Watching him evaluate every detail of an instrument is a masterclass in itself.
As if that was not enough, we were also treated to an unexpected bonus when Fredrik Åkesson picked up the TT Strat and started improvising. Fredrik is internationally known for his work with Opeth and has also performed and recorded with bands such as Arch Enemy, Talisman and Krux. Widely regarded as one of Sweden’s finest guitarists, he effortlessly moved between melodic phrasing, technical brilliance and pure feel.
Hearing both John Norum and Fredrik Åkesson putting the instrument through its paces in a studio environment was a rare privilege and a powerful reminder of why we do what we do. There are few better ways to evaluate a guitar than placing it in the hands of musicians operating at the very highest level.
The TT Strat received the ultimate seal of approval and was tested in the very best way imaginable.
